The Sweet Scent Of Home

Posted by Amota Eromanga on February 26, 2019 at 12:00 PM Comments comments ()

When I was young I thought of education

Peers at school doing their study

I wished to go abroad

As a teenager I experienced the new world

Differ from my culture and people

The wisdom from western education

Changed my style and living

Far beyond as I familiar with

Today it seems as thousands ahead

Like tourists when visited and left

My beloved island.

When out noble old men shared

Their wise decision seated at

A Young World

Posted by Bwena on May 14, 2017 at 7:25 AM Comments comments ()

I heard mother sang songs

When the sun rose in the east

I could smell hard burning woods

Early in the morning

Nearby the hut

When she called, children! Time for tea

Grated fresh coconut meat

With hot babai and saltfish

Served with reddish kamaimai

Oh! My favourite dish!

Daddy rose early as rooster flapped his wings

His toddy ibu screamed happily

Marked the new day for duty

His handsom...

Life In Early Days

Posted by Bwena on April 29, 2017 at 5:45 PM Comments comments ()

Men sang with cutting knives

High on tops of coconut trees

Sweat falling like raindrops

Early in the morning

Like waves rolling in and out.

Women lit fire with handful

Of merry and caring

Boiled toddy to make 'kateete' and 'kaboreere'

Weaving mats under a pandanus hut

When the lamp gives enough

Light before the new day born.

Children collected firewoods

As others pulled out 'bero' fruits

For di...

Children of Kiribati

Posted by Bwena on September 10, 2016 at 9:25 PM Comments comments ()

Children of Kiribati

Wherever you are

Stay calm, work hard and face challenges

Dad says life is just like that.

Children of Kiribati

Wherever you are

Stay together, work together to overcome challenges

The government says life is challenging.

Children of Kiribati

Wherever you are

Be happy, be grateful and be thankful

Cause life is precious.

Children of Kiribati

Whereve...

Beach Beach

Posted by Bwena on September 10, 2016 at 9:15 PM Comments comments ()

Beach beach

My Kiribati lovely beach

Smiling and welcoming to the people and nature

Beautiful as always in my heart

Shinning bright in the moonlight

Awaiting to ease off all depressions

Shinngin even brighter in the morning

Whispering good morning to all.

Aim for Happiness

Posted by Amota Eromanga on February 26, 2013 at 5:20 AM Comments comments ()

Aim for happiness
Dreams of good deeds
Seeking for the healthy tree
Strong and brave to breed

It grows well and bears
Its lovely flowers and fruits
Caring for them wholeheartedly
And giving them love

Storm appears
Shaking the healthy tree
Many branches fall
Causing hazards to its life

The roots stay firm
Holding the stem upright
Supporting it with love and care
Maintaining damages

Water flows...

Painful Experience

Posted by Amota Eromanga on February 26, 2013 at 4:05 AM Comments comments ()

Still moist
Someone called my name
Unexpected visitor presents

News poured out through the line
Silence comes up with teardrops
Changing the atmosphere
Into a painful one

Something takes the air away
Cannot breathe normally
Hopeless and worthless
Confusion and loss

Unprepared for your lost
Cannot accept reality
Hard to live and survive
Without you

Lonely and struggle with surroundings

I Can Jump

Posted by Amota Eromanga on January 9, 2013 at 1:25 AM Comments comments ()

Jump, jump, jump.

I can jump over the bed.

I can jump over the tree.

I can jump over the house.

I can jump over the mountain.

But I can not jump over me.

Birds and a Tree

Posted by Bwena on November 27, 2012 at 5:10 AM Comments comments ()

Up, up, up, three birds up in the tree

Round and round they fly

In and out the tree

Down, down, down to get food from the sea

Splash, splash and splash they get the little fish

Then fly, fly, fly back to their sweet home the tree

Two little feet

Posted by Bwena on November 16, 2012 at 1:45 PM Comments comments ()

Two little feet are all I have

They take me here and there

They take me in and out

They take me up and down

They take me everywhere I go
